Springtime in Portland

When daisies pied and violets blue, And lady-smocks all silver-white
And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue, Do paint the meadows with delight
-William Shakespeare

I love the way these daffodils look like they are dancing…perhaps a waltz in time to the wind?? Or, gently swaying with someone they love??

I spent the second half of last week in Ashland, Oregon – home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival – with 40 seventh graders. Yes, 40 seventh graders. They were there to take in some plays and theater workshops. Despite what you might think…I thoroughly enjoyed myself!! I adore live theater so I was thrilled to be there no matter what I had to do to get there; although, I must admit, the kids were fantastic. Yes, a few teenager shenanigans but nothing I wouldn’t have done myself.

Ashland was bursting with springtime buds and here in Portland, my daffodils brighten every minute of every day. I had to share their cheerful faces. And yes, I have planted some lettuce seeds in hopes that I might have a rotation of salad greens throughout the coming season…that is, if I can get to them before the deer.

I hope the start of spring is brightening your days!
